The annual state fair opened with a ceremony today, promising circus shows, live music and carnival rides for a little more than three weeks.

The festive fair, as always, is at the Xmatkuil fairgrounds, south of the city.

The Feria Yucatán has something for all ages and attracts families and couples from miles around. Last year’s fair attracted over 2 million visitors.

Kids especially like the cattle exhibition, the equestrian events and the dog show.

At the fairgrounds, south of the Calle 50 exit on the Periférico, events run daily until Sunday, Dec. 2, from 8 a.m. until 2 the next morning. Schedule here.

Admission is 25 pesos, parking is 35 pesos, and extras include an ice show for 20 pesos and the Dinosauria exhibit for 20 pesos.
