Youths’ murals honor culture in Petac

A city youth program brought young artists to Petac, where they reflected the residents’ culture with colorful and expressive murals.

Petac is the second satellite community in Mérida entering the program “Young Universe” created by the Municipal Institute for Youth. The project began in Tzacalá where 15 artistic facades were created; 11 facades were painted in Petac.

Doña Antonia May Dzul’s religious faith was honored in a mural that depicted the 23rd Psalm. Diario de Yucatán reported that the owner was pleased with the work, and her house is now a landmark for visitors.

Even the “gringa” owner of the property drives by slowly in her car to admire it, Dzul said.
