Mérida, Yucatán — Municipal Tourism, Urban Development and Economic Development officials received a delegation of government officials and businessmen from Qingdao, China, who are interested in investing in this part of Mexico.

The meeting was led by agency head Tommy Soberanis Valdez, who stressed the current administration’s agenda in developing the city’s economy.

The summit between Qingdao and local authorities was facilitated by the China Latina Association, headed by Asian businesswoman Kit Bing Wong Ho, together with the China Yucatan Peninsula Association.

Yang Xudong, a Communist Party delegate, said that his country is dedicated to the production of components for wind and solar energy and felt that this area has investment potential. Mérida in particular was characterized as a peaceful city suitable for investment.

The visitors offered to reciprocate Mérida’s hospitality in Qingdao, China, to promote the tourist attractions of that city.
