Mother’s Day might be rained out this Sunday, so staying home won’t be as hard as we thought.

Intense storms, hail and strong squalls are forecast in Yucatan this weekend due to the arrival of the Cold Front No. 60.

With the arrival of the phenomenon, a low pressure system will advance towards the Peninsula along with the frontal system , generating a “cordonazo” of heavy rains in the region.

The weather is notoriously difficult to predict in these parts, but local forecasters seem pretty confident that Saturday and Sunday will be unsettled.

Mexico City’s Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum proposed Mother’s Day be postponed until July 10 to avoid the height of the pandemic.
