Record 260 new infections in Yucatan as 35 die from COVID-19

A third consecutive day of record-breaking numbers was announced Friday by Yucatan health authorities.

New cases totaled 260 while 35 more coronavirus patients died in the last 24 hours, officials said. Hospitalizations rose by 24.

Fatalities included 18 men and 17 women ranging in age from 34 to 89.

New infections included 116 in Mérida, 27 in Ticul, 22 in Valladolid and nine in Temozón. Of the current patients, 413 are at home under quarantine orders while 479 are in the hospital.

Since the crisis began, 8,322 infections and 954 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus pandemic in Yucatan.
