The Reyma Group is investing 750 million pesos in Yucatán as they build a plant to produce disposable goods of all kinds. The factory will eventually export multiple goods to the U.S. and the Caribbean.
The company, based in Leon, Guanajuato, already has a distribution center in Mérida, but given the strong product demand, officials there decided to open a production facility as well.
Reyma makes about 254 plastic and Styrofoam products ranging from cups, plates, spoons, containers, bags, trays and straws. After 45 years and beginning with just four employees, Reyma today generates 3,000 direct jobs at its plants in León, San Francisco del Rincon, Nuevo Leon and Nogales. The manufacturer has its own supply channels including a fleet of over 285 trailers.
Reyma is able to export widely because it meets standards set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
