New coronavirus infections totaled 86 on Tuesday, but were joined by 190 previously uncounted IMSS reports to bring the caseload up by 276. The single-day total was the lowest since June 18, when 79 died.
Another 15 died in the past 24 hours, Yucatan health authorities said.
Of the combined new cases, 159 were in Mérida, 25 in Valladolid, 15 in Ticul, 14 in Progreso and nine in Motul. Seven cases were attributed to people from outside the state or country.
New infections were also detected in Kanasín, Tahmek, Tizimín, Umán, Acanceh, Dzan, Hoctún, Izamal, Maxcanú, Suma, Tekantó, Bokobá, Celestún, Chankom, Cuzamá, Hocabá, Homún, Hunucmá, Opichén, Samahil, Seyé, Tekom, Temozón, Tixcacalcupul, Tixkokob and Tixkokob.
That brings to 6,661 the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Yucatan, of which 4,794 recovered. Deaths now total 672.
A 48-year-old man from Tixkokob, whose recovery was complicated by obesity, was the youngest to die. An 88-year-old Merida man with hypertension, asthma and heart disease, was the oldest. The average age of the deceased was 62.
Of the current patients, 633 have mild COVID-19 symptoms and are recovering at home under quarantine. the other 418 were in the hospital, five fewer than the day before.
