Progreso, Yucatán — The Navy helped rescue a luxury yacht with engine problems, drifting off the coast.

The “Alchemist,” a 25-meter/82-foot private vessel, had nine passengers aboard when it issued a distress call.

They found themselves drifting and performed bilge maneuvers, or drainage, in the machinery compartment, using two portable electric pumps to check the hull of the boat.

Two occupants of the yacht were given medical care. The boat was towed to Yucalpetén harbor for repairs.

The yacht is a super luxury ship manufactured in Italy by Overmarine, valued between US$1 and $5 million.
