Mérida, Yucatán — The state of Yucatán and the island nation of Cuba will strengthen cultural ties, it was vowed following the conclusion of the Fourth International Festival of the Mayan Culture, FICMaya 2015.
Cuban Culture Minister Julian Gonzalez, and state Secretary of Culture and Arts Roger Metri are working on at least four cultural activities in 2016, reports Prensa Latina.
Among Yucatán’s cultural gains next year: the National Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Romeu, an all-woman string ensemble led by Zenaida Castro Romeu, will perform in Yucatan next year.
The possibility that the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Company attend was also assessed.
While for May 19, anniversary of the combat death of Cuban national hero Jose Marti (1853-1895), a launch of the book “Sin amores,” a compilation of his poetry written in when he was in Mexico between 1875 and 1876, and in 1894, was proposed for Mérida.
