Mexico remains on top in expat satisfaction poll

Internations

Mexico remains one of the most economical expat destinations, according to a new poll that measured for both personal finance success and cost of living.

Mexico was ranked in second place for cost of living behind Bulgaria. Vietnam cane in third, according to the Expat Insider 2018 survey.

Mexico ranked third in the survey’s Personal Finance Index, which is based on “expats’ perception of their financial situation and whether they consider their income enough to cover all living expenses.” Colombia and Vietnam were first and second, respectively.

InterNations revealed its findings after 18,135 expats living in 187 countries or territories completed an online survey between Feb. 15 to March 7 this year.

Respondents were asked to rank a country based on a number of factors such as quality of life, ease of settling in, working abroad, family life, personal finance and cost of living.

Combining all those categories, Mexico ranked fourth place, behind Bahrain, Taiwan and Ecuador.

Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and India were ranked in the bottom three.

An earlier poll had Mexico on top for “friendliness,” and another for the careers of expat women.
