Merida, Yucatan — Urban artist Arnold Daniel Cruz Cetina, better known as Datoer, has dedicated his latest project to doctors and nurses.

His mural comes at a time when medical personnel on the front lines of the coronavirus crisis risk their lives and take abuse from the public.

On social media, Datoer asked his contacts and followers to send him photographs of someone they knew working in the health sector. The best photos are being integrated into his larger-than-life painting on a wall that runs along the train tracks at Col. Emiliano Zapata Oriente.

Along with his wife Ana Laura Balam and the urban artist known as Sather, the muralist seeks to offer a heart-felt tribute to these health care heroes.

A young nurse, 29, who until his recent death worked at the Hospital Lic Ignacio García Tellez, figures prominently in the series of images.

Although his family has said that Jesus “N” died due to circumstances beyond COVID-19, many colleagues and acquaintances have expressed their sadness at the death of the young man, since he was widely known for his passionate work.
