Merida, Yucatan — City Council on Thursday approved a proposal by Mayor Renán Barrera Concha to issue a 50 percent discount on the Property Acquisition Tax (ISAI) in May.

During the regular City Council session, carried out on a video conference call, lawmakers also approved financial support for 34 cultural collaboration agreements.

This resources come from Performing Arts and Music 2020 and the Visual Arts 2020 funding program.

Likewise, 12 public tenders were authorized for street construction and repaving throughout several neighborhoods.

The measures are meant to encourage the city’s recovery during the coronavirus shutdown, which has cratered the local economy.
