The Yucatan Leones added more talent to their team, announcing the arrival of American relief pitcher Josh Lueke as a new reinforcement for the second half of the season.

The 34-year-old Covington, Ky., native made his Major League debut in 2011 with the Seattle Mariners. A year later, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays, where he played 47 games before heading to the Dominican Republic in 2014. In 2016-17, he was recruited by the Yakult Swallows in Japan.

He arrived in Mexico for the 2015 season with the Delfines de Ciudad del Carmen and returned in 2018 with Acereros de Monclova and Generales de Durango. This year he played for both the Pericos de Puebla and the Long Island Ducks.

The right-hander compiled a 2.78 ERA while in the Mexican League, and has a career ERA of 6.16.

Lueke (pronounced LOO-kee) begins play this Saturday, replacing Alex Valdez on the roster.

Another American-born relief pitcher, Chad Gaudin, was assigned to the disabled list for 15 days to recover from back pain.
