Merida, Yucatan — A new art exhibit along the corridors of the Merida International Airport meets the challenge: “Tell me about FILEY in pictures.”

Students photographers from the School of Arts of Yucatan (ESAY) did just that, depicting the Yucatan International Reading Fair and its goal to promote literature, with 36 images.

Artists were also evaluated by judges and awarded prizes.

Michael Covián Benitez, the first-place winner, presented four photographs, including one in which writer Elena Poniatowska is radiant and happy while displaying her medal “José Emilio Pacheco.”

During the inauguration of the exhibit, Hector Navarrete Muñoz, director of the airport, cited 19 years of exhibitions at the airport “where each month the spirit of Yucatan is renewed.”

The pictures will be on view for one month.
