Mérida, Yucatán — Could “El Chapo” have fled to Yucatán? Although there is no particular reason to believe he is on the peninsula, police are offering a 60-million-peso reward for his capture.

Police are distributing leaflets asking for citizens to be on the lookout for the escaped drug kingpin.

 

The Ministry of Public Security (SSP) is asking anyone to step forward with reliable information leading to the capture of the criminal. Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán tunneled out of Altiplano federal prison — 1,300 miles from Mérida — on July 11.

All 32 states are coordinating action to enable “El Chapo.
