Mérida, Yucatán — More than 700 motorcyclists will descend on the Peninsula on Thursday, Feb. 15 for the Seventh Edition of the Mayan Road Peninsula Harley-Davidson road rally.
“We will have several activities during the day,” said Ximena Puerto, marketing director of Harley Davidson Peninsula, who said there will be “rodadas” to the pueblo mágico of Izamal and the port of Progreso.
A highlight of the event is a Biker Rodeo, which will be held on the Yucatán Peninsula for the first time, organizers said.
“It is important to have an event of this style, since these are only done in the center of the country or in the north; and Yucatan could not be left behind,” explained Eduardo Sandoval, of the HOG Mérida Chapter, a group over 65 Harley Davidson enthusiasts.
“One of the most important objectives that we have as a Chapter is to maintain security on the road, to welcome all our guests who come from outside, to walk them through our beautiful Yucatecan land and to return to their homes on their motorcycles,” he said.
Guests will come not only from Mexico, but also from other countries.
“It is not easy to coordinate more than 500 motorcycles, but we are sure that it will be a success,” said Sandoval.
Entry is 1,300 pesos, and includes access to all program events, food and drink, preferred hotel rates and a commemorative shirt.
