Heat to rise past 40C / 104F this weekend in Yucatan

This weekend will go from hot to even hotter, according to Conagua.

Today, the temperature is expected to hit 40C / 104F. On Sunday, it could reach 41C, or nearly 106F.

The public is warned to take precautions, especially between noon and 5 p.m., when the sun is at its most intense.

Winds would be from the southeast at 20 to 30 kph with gusts greater than 55 kph in the coastal zone.

For Sunday, maximum highs of 41C, or nearly 106 F, are expected in Yucatan; a little less in Campeche and Quintana Roo.

A high pressure system will dominate, so there is a low probability of rain, although drizzle is not ruled out in the coastal ​​Quintana Roo. For Yucatan and Campeche no precipitation is expected. 

Winds will come from the east southeast of 20 to 30 kmh with gusts of up to 55 kmh in the coastal zone.

Sunday’s heat will continue Monday, with little chance of any rain.

Winds are expected east of 15 to 25 kph with gusts greater than 50 kph on the coast on Monday.
