Harvard at UADY to promote clean energy

Mérida, Yucatán — Speakers from Harvard University told around 120 academics from Yucatán and other southeastern states how to initiate and drive companies to develop clean energy.

In a meeting with teachers and researchers from various institutions of higher education in the state, concentrated in the Faculty of Engineering of UADY, representatives of the Ivy League institution raised possibilities of creating sustainable projects in Yucatán.

Ramón Sánchez Alberto Pina, director of Corporate Outreach and Research Associate and eStrategy, and Francisco Acuña, from the same institution, invited scholars to be leaders in the development of clean energy in their communities.

At the opening of “Applied Leadership Program in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency,” experts said that with the development of sustainable projects is possible to obtain external fundin.

The list of speakers who participate in the program to be developed in June 2015 includes private fund managers, experts in project finance capital, representatives of development finance institutions and operators with experience in low carbon technologies.

One of the great challenges is to empower these teachers and researchers with technical tools, financial, business and leadership skills so that they can develop and promote productive projects with communities, said Ramón Sánchez.

Harvard University speakers have been touring universities around Mexico, in collaboration with InTrust Global Investments, an investment and advisory firm, to share their knowledge of sustainability and clean energy.
