For Yucatán, a relatively cold Christmas with wind and rain

For this Christmas Day, it’s a meteorological stocking full of coal. Windy weather with rain is predicted, along with not-so-tropical temperatures.

A frontal system with a polar air mass will bring temperatures to no warmer than 71F / 22C, which to most foreigners is just dandy. But to locals, it’s not so comfortable.

Rocky waters along the coast will begin Wednesday, with winds of up to 70 km / 44 mph. Swell on the Gulf coast will reach between four and five meters in height. Waterspouts and squalls are not ruled out.

Cold will grip the entire country as far away as Baja California.

Temperatures as low as 32F / 0C or less could also hit Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Oaxaca.
