Merida, Yucatan — A 53-year-old woman died after a coronavirus infection, Yucatan health officials announced today. The unidentified patient, Yucatan’s sixth fatality, follows the death of another woman on Thursday.

The woman had a history of chronic degenerative diseases. None of the people who lived with the patient have symptoms, but they are monitored by health personnel.

Across the state, 93 patients tested positive for coronavirus, two more than Thursday, and of those 58 have recovered. Another 110 are awaiting test results. The patients range in age from 10 to 78 years.

While 18 patients are stable and quarantined at home, another 11 are still in the hospital.

Indicating the virus’ possible spread, Izamal Mayor Fermín Sosa Lugo reported the city’s first confirmed COVID-19 case.
