For the fifth consecutive day, daily COVID-19 infections climbed in triple digits as 159 new patients were added to the state’s caseload, the Yucatan health ministry announced in Sunday evening’s briefing.
Additionally, 12 patients with coronavirus perished in the past 24 hours, doctors said.
New infections included 89 in Merida; eight in Tekax and Valladolid; seven in Ticul, five in Peto and Umán; four in Kanasín; three in Bokobá and Progreso; two in Cacalchén, Conkal, Huhí and Maxcanú; and one each in Acanceh , Chapab, Chemax, Chicxulub Pueblo, Dzan, Dzidzantún, Dzitás, Dzoncauich, Homún, Ixil, Kinchil, Motul, Muna, Muxupip, Telchac Pueblo, Temozón, Tixkokob and Tzucacab, in addition to one foreigner.
The total number of positive cases since the crisis began in Yucatan is 4,177. Around 69% of those patients have recovered, including 79 in the previous 24 hours. Accumulated fatalities have reached 436.
In addition, there were 12 deaths, the youngest patient being a 21-year-old man from Mérida who suffered from erosive esophagitis and anemia. In Timucuy, a 46-year-old woman with chronic kidney failure and diabetes also perished as did a 54-year-old man from Xocchel with obesity and diabetes; a 59-year-old Chikindzonot man with hypertension, chronic kidney failure, and diabetes; a 60-year-old woman from Calkiní, Campeche, with diabetes; as well as a 62-year-old woman from Mérida with hypertension, diabetes and heart disease.
Also, a 65-year-old woman from Telchac Pueblo with hypertension, diabetes and heart disease; a 67-year-old woman from Merida with hypertension, diabetes and obesity; a 69-year-old man from Acanceh, without previous illnesses; a 76-year-old Dzoncauich woman with diabetes; an 81-year-old woman from Merida who was otherwise well; and 81-year-old man from Hoctun, who was also healthy before contracting the virus.
Existing patients include 615 patients in stable condition and staying home and 247 hospitalized patients, up 13 in one day. The previous 24 hours saw 14 new hospital patients.
