The tourist industry has high hopes for the first month of 2020.

According to Progreso’s Integral Port Administration, 24 cruise ships will arrive in January alone. The port will welcome regular visits from Carnival cruise lines, which are Progreso’s most frequent visitors.

A ship from another cruise line has already arrived. On Wednesday, Ponant’s Le Champlain docked as part of an eight-day “Maya Treasure of Yucatan” itinerary. Today the Carnival Valor cruise ship pulls in, and on Jan. 5 the MS Europa 2 will arrive. On Jan. 9, both the Carnival Valor and Carnival Fantasy will appear, the first of four double arrivals on the schedule.

The following week, a new ship will dock every day. On Jan. 12 the Enchantment of the Seas arrives, followed by the Carnival Fantasy; the Carnival Dream; the Viking Sky and the Le Champlain, which arrive on the same day; the Carnival Valor and the Enchantment of the Sea once again.

Carnival Valor arrives on Jan. 21; the next day there will be a third double arrival with the arrival of the Viking Sky and a new vessel called Costa Luminosa. On Jan. 23, two cruises ships pull up, this time from the Carnival line: Fantasy and Dream.

Daily arrivals are also scheduled for the last week of the month, starting on Jan. 26 with the Enchantment of the Sea; on Jan. 27 the Carnival Fantasy; on Jan. 28 the Carnival Dream; on Jan. 29 the Le Champlain; Jan. 30 the Carnival Valor and on the 31st, the month closes with the arrival of the Enchantment of the Seas.
