Coronavirus infections and deaths declined in Yucatan between Thursday and Friday, but the age range of the one man and two women who died in the past 24 hours was striking. They were all under 40.
The report brings to 66 the number of fatalities, including a 38-year-old man from Merida with diabetes and hypertension; a 35-year-old woman from Calcehtok, Opichén town, who suffered from associated autoimmune disease; and a 38-year-old woman from Motul, with diabetes and hypertension.
Authorities announced 26 new infections, including 16 in Merida, two each in Kanasín and in Umán, as well as one each in Chikindzonot, Conkal, Halachó, Kinchil, Tahmek and Teabo.
That brings total infections to 761 in the state, of which 407 have recovered, 36 more since Thursday. Another 205 are recovering in quarantine at home and 80 are being hospitalized, six fewer than Thursday, but 13 more than a week ago.
The age range of positive cases so far is 1 to 94 years old.
Authorities exhort the population not to let their guard down, since this is a time in which a higher number of infections is expected.
Room at the inn
The Fiesta Inn will donate 40 rooms for 30 nights to medical and hospital personnel from Yucatan during the contingency.
The hotel’s owner, Grupo Posadas / Fibra UNO, included Yucatan in a national program to offer doctors, nurses, interns and medical assistants rooms so that they do not have to return to their homes and put their relatives at risk.
