Wednesday Thursday brings us the comedy/drama
“East Side Sushi” (2014), about single Mexican-American mother Juana who takes a job as a sushi assistant chef, but whose higher aspirations create friction in her conventional male-oriented work environment. Multiple nominations and wins at international film festivals, including San Francisco, San Jose, Napa Valley, and the audience award at the 2014 Naples International Film Festival.
(Although originally scheduled for its normal Wednesday night, this week’s movie is on Thursday, May 2 because of International Workers’ Day.)
Movie night is at Il Caffé, a charming Italian restaurant on a pedestrian road behind the Peón Contreras theater. Have dinner on your own at 6 to enjoy a free movie, aimed at English-speaking audiences, at 7.
