Movie night at Il Caffé: “The Producers”
Wed., June 13 @ 6:00 pm
Starting with just a title, “Springtime for Hitler,” TV comedy genius Mel Brooks wrote and directed “The Producers” as his shot at Hollywood. It died at the box office, but became a cult classic, and then a more broadly appreciated hit 33 years later as a Broadway smash.
This week’s movie at Il Caffé is the original 1967 movie, starring Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, Dick Shawn, and Kenneth Mars. The film was Brooks’ directorial debut, and he won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Movie night at Il Caffé, a charming Italian restaurant on a pedestrian road behind the Peón Contreras theater. Have dinner on your own at 6 to enjoy a free movie, aimed at English-speaking audiences, at 7.
