Merida, Yucatan — Two more COVID-19 patients died, health authorities reported today, bringing Yucatan’s fatalities to 12. The caseload shot up from 146 to 179, 33 more confirmed coronavirus infections.
The deceased are two men, one 70 years old with a history of liver failure and the other, 52, who had heart disease. Their city of origin was not disclosed.
Their family members show no symptoms but are in isolation as a precaution, according to the statement.
The terrible news followed two consecutive days with no deaths reported.
Six more patients, meanwhile, have been declared recovered from the virus, according to the daily report, which is delivered by Patricia Muñoz Miranda, head of the Program Against Respiratory Diseases. In the hospital, 27 patients remain, two fewer than Friday. Another 45 are recovering at home. Yucatan has treated 158 COVID-19 patients since early April.
