Starting Nov. 6, American Airlines will join Aeroméxico in offering direct flights between Mérida and Miami, Fla.

The route will operate daily, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays, complementing their Dallas-Mérida flights, which began in March. Mérida’s international airport has been steadily adding to its roster of direct connections to the U.S. and Canada: Houston, Dallas and Toronto also fly directly to Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport.

American’s route will be operated by Republic Airways with an Embraer 175 aircraft.

“We are very excited about the launch of this new route to Merida, and we will offer our customers international access to five Mexican destinations nonstop from our hub in Miami,” said the CEO of American Airlines Mexico, Tony Gutierrez.

For travelers departing Mérida, travelers arriving in Miami will find themselves in a major AA hub, with 130 international and domestic connections, including to New York City.

Details on departure and arrival times and on airfares were not announced.
