Yucatan’s daily coronavirus deaths declined Sunday, with three fatalities in the past 24 hours. New infections were also relatively low at 30, after averaging around 50 since Saturday, May 30.
Deaths have declined since June 3, when 11 fatalities were reported.
Of the new cases, 22 were in Merida, four in Kanasín, and one each in Kaua, Peto, Tixmehauc and Yaxcaba.
An additional 41 patients recovered, the state health ministry reported. Although 1,656 patients out of 2,146 have recovered from the illness, COVID-19 has killed 253 people in Yucatan since the crisis began.
A 65-year-old woman from Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, who suffered from chronic kidney failure and diabetes, perished, as did a 65-year-old diabetic Merida man and a 72-year-old man from Chicxulub Pueblo, who had both diabetes and obesity.
Of the active cases, 90 are in stable condition and quarantined at home under health department monitoring. Another 147 are hospitalized, two fewer than Saturday.
Patients range from 1 month to 94 years old.
