Merida, Yucatan — Health authorities today reported nine new COVID-19 cases in Yucatan, bringing to 146 the total of infections since the coronavirus crisis began last month.
For the second day in a row, no deaths were reported. Since April 3, 10 fatalities have occurred in Merida hospitals.
Another 210 potential COVID-19 cases are awaiting test results. While real numbers are likely much higher, the official state tally has counts 89 patients who have recovered, four more than Thursday. The number of people in stable condition and under quarantine at home rose by one to reach 18.
The number of hospitalized coronavirus patients, 29, remains steady.

Across Mexico, the news was more grim as 500 new cases and 546 deaths, in a 24-hour period, were reported Friday. The country has registered 6,875 positive cases of COVID-19. Most fatalities were male with at least two complicating conditions.
