2015 Thanksgiving dining guide

thanksgivingYEL15700x400Being an expat often means giving up some of your favorite foods, but many restaurants here offer familiar tastes of home each Thanksgiving.

It’s not just for tourists or expats; locals seem to like the taste of roasted turkey and stuffing, too. Pumpkin pie is still a little harder to find, but for the most part, you can get the foods you’re used to on the fourth Thursday of each November, if you know where to look.

So here again is our “American Thanksgiving” roundup, for anyone homesick for turkey and trimmings this year. (We don’t see much about Canadian Thanksgiving, which comes before most of the snowbirds typically arrive.)

We’re crowdsourcing this list. The list will be updated as we get more information from more restaurants, so please check back. And send your suggestions, as well! There is no charge or expectation of advertising to be included on the list.

We’re publishing this now because some venues are almost sold out already.

The popular buffet restaurant off the lobby is what most old-school expats think of first. Peregrina Bistro has a huge buffet, 7 p.m. to midnight, for 299 pesos per person.

The buffet is enormous, with turkey carved to order. Plus its usual offerings of steak, salmon, chicken, and pork, a salad bar, bread bar and cheese bar, plus, of course, the dessert bar. A children’s play room is off to the side to house fidgety youngsters.
