Mexican nationals from every other state, plus a dominant contingent from Mexico City, are moving to Yucatán.
According to national electoral rolls, 171,734 people from the other 31 states have chosen Yucatán as their new place of residence this year.
The figure accounted for 13.57 percent of everyone over 18 who applied for voter ID. They are mainly coming from Mexico City (36,000), neighboring Campeche (31,000) and Tabasco (21,000). But most striking is that every single state in the national is represented on the list of arrivals, down to the 150 newcomers from Baja California Sur.
Additionally, 16,000 naturalized citizens joined the electoral rolls, as did over 1,1o0 citizens with dual nationality.
