Oscar-winning American director Barry Jenkins is winding down a nine-day trip across the Yucatán Peninsula, reports Diario de Yucatán.

Jenkins’ picture, “Moonlight,” won the Best Picture category in February’s Oscars ceremonies. But he joked that the real honor was found in a marketplace on the way to Uxmal.

On his travels to the Mayan archaeological site, Jenkins was startled by a sight in Muna.

In a market, he found Spanish version bootleg copies of his acclaimed film, “Moonlight,” for sale.

Jenkins wrote jokingly about it on his Instagram account, where he posed with the pirated DVD.

“To fully comprehend this, you must know that Muna is a town with a population of 11,000 souls, a small-town lover’s kinda small town on the way to the Mayan ruins of Uxmal,” Jenkins said. “We stopped for some fruit at an open air market and lo and behold, Luz De Luna. Mama we made it!!!”

Earlier, Jenkins was not necessarily going for another Oscar when he contributed his own “short film” on Instagram.

Here, he pays tribute to “the most relaxing @airbnb” ever,  “La Casa del Limonero,” on Calle 49 in the Centro.
