Mérida, Yucatán — Beer giant Grupo Modelo announced its eighth factory in México, and this one will be based here. The $2.2 billion peso project is due to be completed next year. It will directly create 400 new jobs.
Grupo Modelo announced the construction of a new plant in Mexico, which will increase its production of initial shape by 8 percent, an investment in phase two thousand 200 million pesos.
The plant will have an annual production capacity of five million hectoliters.
A company spokesman relayed Modelo’s intent to grow on the Peninsula. Its geographic location was called idea for exports; already Modelo ships its beers to more than 180 countries.
The company produces, among many other brands, Corona, Modelo and Mérida’s own Montejo Cerveza Clara.
