Get ready for the 7th Noche Blanca blast

Mérida, Yucatán — The seventh edition of La Noche Blanca will serve as a preamble to the city’s giant 2017 cultural celebration.

The massive citywide festival, which attracted 60,000 participants during its previous edition in May, will return on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Some 600 artists from different disciplines will occupy in 68 venues in a blast of music, art and culture. In total, there will be 165 activities from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Something new this time will be the presentation of a something that translates roughly to “Rolling: Traveling festival energized by bicycles,” in which bikes generate electrical energy, accompanied by music from the Mexican rock band “Gallo Negro.”

Visitors are promised an unforgettable night that will open with the presentation of the National Dance Company and close with a concert by the Chilean artist Mon Laferte, who was nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards this year.

Free transportation will be provided to shuttle visitors to different venues:

Expect activities at the parks of San Juan, Santiago, Saint Lucia, Santa Ana, Mejorada, Plaza Grande, Maternidad, Hidalgo and the remate of the Paseo de Montejo.

Theaters include the Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Fantasio, Daniel Ayala, Jose Peon Contreras and Armando Manzanero, plus alternative spaces Rubén Chacón, La Rendija, Tapanco, Búnker, Casa Taniche, Cementerio General and Centro de Integración Juvenil.

The 25 art galleries that will host receptions are Galería 37, Soho Galleries, Centro Cultural La Cúpula, La Sala Art Gallery,  Nahualli-Casa de los Artistas, Galería Santana (Arte & Objeto), Terracota Arte Actual, El Horno Gráfico (Taller de grabado y estampa),  Agustín Galería, Galería Boutique Colores 33, Fundación de Artistas A.C. , Galería Karne Korp de UFO Art, Hotel Posada Toledo, Le Cirque Galería de Arte, La Eskalera, Anónimo, Estudio Juan Pablo Bavio, Centro Cultural La libélula azul, La Pantera Negra, El tendejón del arte, Calle Estampa (Taller de Grabado), Galería Mesoamericana, Galería Mérida,  Art Mart-La casa de las caras felices and Taller y Galería El Caimito.

The 10 museums on the itinerary are the Museo de La Ciudad De Mérida, MACAY, Casa de La Cultura Banamex, Museo de La Canción Yucateca, Museo de Ferrocarriles, Palacio Cantón, Casa Museo de La Danza, Museo Conmemorativo de La Inmigración Coreana, Casa Catherwood and Centro Cultural Olimpo.

A tree-adoption program, and an organic flea market, are planned at Santa Ana park.
