Mérida, Yucatán — Not all of Carnaval has moved to the fairgrounds. The charming Desfile Infantil, the Children’s Parade, remains in the heart of downtown.

No floats from beer companies. No whoppers flung at the crowd. Just squads of cute kids in festive costumes, starting at the Plaza Grande and and ending at Santa Lucia Park.

The cuteness begins at 4 p.m. Thursday at the southwest corner of the Plaza Grande. It moves up Calle 62 , then winds its way north through Calle 61 and Calle 60 until reaching Santa Lucia Park.

Street closings in the area will affect traffic from 2 until 6 p.m.

All the Carnaval activities are searchable on the city’s website.
