Delta and its new joint venture partner Aeroméxico plans to launch new routes from Atlanta to Mérida starting Dec. 1, subject to government approvals.

Delta and Aeroméxico already have a code-share agreement that eases travel from several U.S. hubs to Merida via Miami.

Delta and Aeroméxico also plan to add Aeroméxico flights from Atlanta to Queretaro by Nov. 1. A second daily flight on Aeroméxico will be added on existing routes from Atlanta to León, Mexico starting Oct. 1 and to Guadalajara starting Dec. 1.

The new flights would be on Embraer E190 jets.

The partnership between Delta and Aeroméxico with antitrust immunity allows the two carriers to coordinate on fares, flight schedules and capacity.

The airlines plan to expand flying between the United States and Mexico by 10 percent by the end of this year and add more capacity next year, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
