Dzityá, Yucatán — Once again the Tunich Fair brings its culinary and artistic traditions in a small village north of Mérida.
This is the 16th edition of the Tunich Fair, one of the largest sources of handicrafts in Yucatán.
Dzityá, which in Mayan means “sapapote tree,” is known for stone and wood work. But the fair will be much more diverse. As of today, around 130 regional artisans — and guests from Querétaro, Michoacán, Veracruz, Puebla and Guanajuato — will arrive, selling unique toys, jewelry, pottery and textiles.
In addition, Tunich’s stage brings music, children’s shows and comedy events, as well as the spectacular Ballet Folklorico de Mérida.
The fair is 15 minutes from the city. To get there, take the first exit after the Periferico on the road to Progreso.
Entrance is free, and free shuttle service departs from the Plaza Grande from Monday to Saturday from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.
