Mérida, Yucatán — Pop heartthrob Chayanne is filming a video today on the Paseo de Montejo. Fans are thrilled. Drivers, not so much.
The road, leading up to the Monumento a la Patria, is closed because the Puerto Rican pop star is filming a video, in which he will be seen driving a classic red convertible on the boulevard.
Word spread quickly. About 300 fans swarmed the area, and police struggled to contain the crowd, according to Diario de Yucatán.
He later filmed at La Negrita Cantina and on the beach in Progreso, trading his bright red convertible for a bright red vintage pickup truck. Location shoots at iconic locations continue for two more days, with Chayanne sightings sure to ignite the region. Tomorrow he is predicted to be shooting at the archaeological site of Dzibilchaltún.
The video will be used to promote tourism in Yucatan.
